Muay Thai boxing

Thai boxing, also known as Muay-Thai Boxing, originates in Thailand. In many ways it resembles kickboxing, but one of the main differences is that it is allowed to use elbows and knees. In Thai boxing, focus is on low kicks. As a result, part of the training involves strengthening the shins so as to be able to effectively execute kicks to the opponent's legs, as well as block those by the opponent. To achieve the best strengthening, shorts are traditionally worn during training instead of training pants.
